Many thanks to the 60 or so folks who attended our meeting! Special thanks to electeds, candidates in attendance and our panel speakers. Here is the powerful testimony from Ady Barkan — at the first ever Medicare for All committee hearing in Washington (we didn’t get a chance to view this at the meeting) All meeting materials are posted under the “resources” widget to your left.:
We’ll start with a legislative roundup of important bills passed in our legislature just a few weeks ago that will transform healthcare in Colorado.
Then, All things Medicare for All:You’ll see riveting testimony, fact-based info on how exactly we’ll pay for Medicare for All, panel discussion from experts, and effective action items to debunk the propaganda, and reframe the discussion about one of the most important human rights issues of our time.

MUCH APPRECIATION to the 60 people who attended our meeting last night…we packed the agenda with lots of good information people can USE. Thanks to all the speakers who presented and many thanks to attendees who also filled out postcards in support of HD50 State Rep. Rochelle Galindo! (Materials for our May 2019 meeting are posted under the Resources widget to your left, including the presentation slides and video links.) Our next meeting is June 5!

A Community Conversation — Creating Inclusion & Confronting Hate
A Community Conversation. We need to stand together to confront bigotry and hate, educate ourselves about implicit bias, cultural self-awareness and cultural proficiency.
What does that mean? LAD board members Sue McCue and Susie Hidalgo-Fahring will lead this important and empowering discussion, including exercises to help all of us clearly identify our own bias and what to do about it.
And…we have a little over a month left of session — LOTS going on, so we’ll provide an overview of the latest legislative updates from the Capitol!
Join us…and please, bring a friend! Wednesday, April 3, 6:30pm, Front Range Community College, 2121 Miller Drive, Classroom Building (east side of Miller Drive), Community Room. (go in door C4, go left, past the cafeteria, Community Room is on the right across from the bathrooms.)
Thanks so much for the great turnout last week! (Materials for our March 2019 meeting will be posted under the Resources widget to your left.) Our next meeting is April 3!
Wednesday, March 6 • 6:30pm (meeting will start promptly at 6:45!)
Front Range Community College • Community Room
Transformative Colorado legislation concerning gun safety, environmental safety, “debrucing” TABOR, immigrant access to services, education about healthy relationships and consent, child tax credits, access to better healthcare and lower drug pricing, banning conversion therapy, rights of transgender persons and for our homeless — and more — is being sponsored, introduced and debated at our Capitol. This is a powerfully important session!
We are excited to have State Rep. Rochelle Galindo (newly elected for District 50 in Weld County), Lorena Fuentes Ibañez from Colorado Immigrant Rights Coalition (CIRC, Northern Colorado), and LAD board member Susie Hidalgo-Fahring (St. Vrain Valley Education Association), to speak with us about lobbying the Governor to support Virginia’s Law* and advocating for other important legislative issues.
We’ll give you the latest legislative news from our Capitol — breaking by the hour — on what YOU can do to support important bills. But, they didn’t say it would be easy: we will get pushback from the gun lobby, conservatives and big industry…and that is why we fight!
Join us…and please, bring a friend! TONIGHT, Wednesday, March 6, 6:30pm, Front Range Community College, 2121 Miller Drive, Classroom Building (east side of Miller Drive), Community Room. (go in door C4, go left, past the cafeteria, Community Room is on the right across from the bathrooms.)
THANKS FOR ALL THAT YOU DO!

No Rest in Our Fight!
If the latest State of the Union is any indication, our work continues. As expected, our majority in the US House, and our full majority in Colorado’s state legislature and state offices are bringing forth amazing progressive change…It’s also eliciting orchestrated and powerful pushback from republicans.
We cannot rest.
You were instrumental in electing Colorado Democrats to our legislature and state offices last fall. At the next LAD meeting, we’ll talk about what you can specifically DO to support Colorado progressive measures in the National Popular Vote, gun safety, reproductive rights, banning conversion therapy and more. And NOW we can make real progress in renewables and Climate Change.
When Colorado republicans had the majority, they tried to destroy the Colorado Energy Office and almost succeeded…it’s a new day: We’ll have environmental advocate RJ Harrington speak about a recent presentation at our Capitol and what it means for our legislative activism (not simply complaining!) moving forward.
Join us…and please, bring a friend! WEDNESDAY, February 13, 6:30pm, Front Range Community College, 2121 Miller Drive, Classroom Building (east side of Miller Drive), Community Room. (go in door C4, go left, past the cafeteria, Community Room is on the right across from the bathrooms.)
And if you’ve never been to a meeting, please check us out! There’s always something good and empowering that you’ll learn — or can share! — at an LAD meeting.
THANKS FOR ALL THAT YOU DO!
