In 2013, Longmont Area Democrats will celebrate our 10th Anniversary! We are proud to have brought you the programs, films, events and information that inform so as to embolden citizens and ensure a robust democracy.

We are asking you to continue that support as we round out this exciting Election Year. We hope that we’ve provided a place where you can go to be involved and learn about the issues that concern our community. From guiding you through the ballot, which you’ll see more of in the coming days and weeks, to getting one on one conversation with candidates as they were running for office during the primary to now and up until November 6th. This year we presented engaging, well attended, and informative forums on Neo-Liberal Economics, Progressivism Today, RTD Q&A, Money in Politics (including a presentation on the infamous Koch Brothers). Presentations from OutBoulder and Colorado Common Cause. We held candidate forums for the HD 12 and County Commissioner seats. There is our film series, this year presenting Koch Brothers Exposed and No Fracking Way. We have had a booth at the Boulder County Farmer’s Market most weeks this season and of course, we had our lovely LAD picnic where folks got a chance to kick back, eat great food, mingle with candidates and friends.
We are Democrats, but we strive to be the best kind of Democrats. (Spine is mandatory, informed opinions are expected) Our progressive “tribe” in Longmont embodies one of the area’s most powerful voices and we come from all stripes. We believe our Democracy is only as strong as the level of people participation. That means we are here to provide information, offer tools to navigate through the political process, show effective ways to get involved, hold debates, give candidates a forum, provide a place to discuss ideas, all the while having FUN, and putting the PARTY in PARTY POLITICS!
